Half Price Broadway Tickets at TKTS Booth
During our walking tours of new york city, I am often asked about obtaining half price or discount broadway tickets. Most people know about the TKTS booth in the middle of Times Square. Problem with that booth is the crowds. You may find yourself waiting 2 or more hours before getting to the window.
There are a couple of other booths to buy half price tickets. My favorite is in Brooklyn. The TKTS booth on Myrtle & Jay Street is the best. They are open from 11am – 6pm Tuesday – Saturday. Very small line, if any. Also, you can buy matinee tickets the day prior. In other words, if you go on a Tuesday, you can get tickets for a Tuesday evening Broadway show or a Wednesday matinee.
You can also go to the TKTS booth at the South Street Seaport (Front & John Street). Same deal as the one in Brooklyn, however, may have somewhat of a wait (maybe up to 20 minutes if you get there when it opens).
You will never get the top selling shows at the TKTS booth. Wicked & Jersey Boys topping the list. You can get some high quality shows and it will be worth your time to source of the other TKTS booths in Brooklyn & The Seaport.
While I often do not go to Brooklyn or The Seaport during our New York City walking tour, however, can certainly direct you there via the NYC subway.
